Relationship Between Ceramic Material and Sound

Ceramic, which has a long history and started to be produced in line with the daily necessities, has evolved over time and become a material that responds to the needs of many sectors, especially advanced technology ceramics. As a result of the research, it is observed that ceramic has a good insulation and sound transmission among its many positive technical features. In this research, relationship between ceramic material and sound is examined in two stages. In the first stage, the instruments made with the ceramic material, in the second stage, works produced with ready-made ceramic objects and 3-D printer containing sound are discussed. Consequently, it’s seen that sound element, which is the most powerful tool representing emotion expression, has a very harmonious relationship with ceramic material. Because of being a good sound transmission, at the beginning percussion, then wind and stringed ceramic instruments were made by artists. Additionally, it also became the reason for preference with its aesthetically pleasing assortment of forms and decoration. Also due to these features, it has been put forward conceptual artworks created sounds by ready-made ceramic objects and 3D printer.
