EVALUATION OF THE INFORMATION DESIGN OF ISTANBUL MARMARAY RAIL STATIONS IN TERMS OF USER OPINIONS

With the growth and development of cities, transportation is becoming a more complex structure. As public transport is becoming more important in growing cities and reaching from one place to another, the need for information in the destination and the available space is becoming more important. Informative designs are becoming an important location for these more complex and informative features. Apart from the graphic design field, information designs that involve many disciplines are of great importance in terms of those who use public transport. In this study, it is aimed to draw attention to the importance of Wayfinding & Signage Design which is one of the information application areas in the rail system lines in our country. This research covers the information design products included in the Marmaray surveys, which is one of the Istanbul rail system lines. In this context, a 16-question questionnaire was conducted in order to reveal and evaluate the current status of information designs in Marmaray stations. The questionnaire was evaluated by reaching 350 (three hundred and fifty) users, and the percentages and frequencies were evaluated and comments were made. As a result of the research, the results of the survey were evaluated and presented as a suggestion that the information designs within the Marmaray stations should be within the scope of corporate identity
