Internet, Online Game And Addiction

Human beings are experiencing the changes due to technological innovations in the time period. Nowadays, the main factor internet that we have included in every aspect of our life as the dominant factor has a great share in this change. Thanks to the internet, users can easily access services such as chat, games, communication and shopping. At the same time, many traditional socialization tools are transferred to the virtual space. Internet, on the one hand, as well as convenience, results in excessive use can show results in negative results. Especially in digital natives, the use of internet and the use of social conditions of technology has shown that it can be effective in other areas of the relationship between technology necessity. On the other hand, the online game that plays an important role in the lives of adolescents in terms of the period examined contributes to the process of addiction. In this study, online game addiction of students studying at secondary education institutions is investigated. During the 2015-2016 academic year, a quantitative field survey was conducted for 840 students studying in Fatih, Bayrampa？a, Bak？rk？y districts, Imam Hatip, Vocational, Anatolian and Private High Schools. According to the analysis and findings of the research data, 1.8 percent of the participants show signs of online gaming addiction and 36.7 percent of them have addiction risk. In the study, it is noteworthy that one fifth of the participants increased the risk of addiction by playing online games for at least two hours a day.
