From Dar Al-Shifas to Present Health Institutions Symbol Snake

The relationship between health and snake has been known since ancient times. For this reason, snake has been made a symbol of many health-related occupations and institutions. Between January 2014 and January 2017, articles, books and visuals on Anatolian Seljuks’s Dar Al-Shifas and their inscriptions were searched in the internet, libraries and archives. In the inscription, doors or walls of the hospital, which used the symbol of the snake and the health of the emblem with the symbol of the snake health-related occupations and institutions were investigated. In this study, the snake figures used as a symbol of health in the emblems of some professions and institutions in our country have been revealed with the written and visual information of the snake motifs of the period used in the Anatolian Seljuks’s Dar Al-Shifas
