A SURVEY ABOUT THE LEVEL OF ANXIETY AND SATISFACTION OF ONCOLOGICAL PAT?ENTS’ RELATIVES IN EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTKeywords: Acil servis,Beck anksiyete ?l?e?i,memnuniyet,onkolojik hasta yak?n? Abstract: OBJECTIVE: In this study, our goal is using Beck Anxiety Inventory scores in terms of comparison of satisfaction levels of oncology patient’s relatives who visited to emergency department and evaluation of their expectations. MATERIAL AND METHODS: During 3 (three) months of study time we took the demografic and clinical information of our patients via ‘Information form for Oncology patients and their relatives’; also asked them to fill out ‘The Satisfaction level of Patient’s relatives form’ and ‘Beck Anxiety Inventory’. Datas gathering from these forms saved to ‘SPSS? for Windows 21.0’ programme and statistically analyzed. RESULTS: Sociodemographic characteristics of oncology patient’s relatives and Beck Anxiety Inventory were compared and couldn’t found any statistically significant result. However, companion of oncology patients who have fear of death at the time of emergency room admission, Beck Anxiety Inventory scores were statistically significantly higher. It is seen that, generally the patient’s relatives are pleased emergency department and emergency department’s doctors, nurses and other employees. But in a huge amount of them are not pleased with comfort of emergency department. CONCLUSIONS: It is supposed that emergency departments are the display windows of 24 hour accessible hospitals. Oncology patients constitute of a considerably big part of patients who get services from emergency departments. Both where the patients in cases and the emergency department’s environment are the major factors determine anxiety and satisfaction levels related with emergency department. Developing the service quality in emergency department, improving the physical conditions, making good communication between patients, patient’s relatives and emergency department’s employees, will increase the satisfaction levels of patients/patient’s relatives and also affects hospital image positively on society
