Evaluation of Male Nurse Perception of X and Y Generation Female PatientsKeywords: Hem?ireler,Erkek,Alg? Abstract: Introduction and Objectives: This study was conducted to determine the thoughts of female patients about male nurses and to evaluate the difference between the two generations. Method: This descriptive study was carried out in the scope of the study with 200 female patients who were treated in Aydin Gynecology and Pediatrics Hospital between 01.02-01.03.2017. The data were collected through a questionnaire prepared by the researchers. In evaluating the data; mean, standard deviation, number, percentile calculations and Chi-square significance tests were used. Findings: 100 people included in the study constitute the X generation (38-52 age) and 100 people the Y generation (17-37 age). The mean age was 45,67 ± 4,82; Y was 27,41 ± 5,46. It is known that 81% of the patient group participated in the study were housewives and 76.5% of them participated in the nursing profession in Turkey. However, 83% had never received care from a male nurse and 46% did not want to receive care from a male nurse. 33% of group X, 46% of group Y prefer female nurse and stated that they were withdrawing from male nurse. 82% of all participants said that they can do nursing in men. There was no significant difference between male and female nurses' attitudes toward male and female nurses. Significant differences were found between X and Y generations for taking medication (p: 0,02), NST (p: 0,03), preoperative patient preparation (p: 0,05) and breastfeeding education (p: 0,046). Conclusion: In general, it can be said that X-generation women have more favorable view towards male nurses. In this context, increasing the work to be evaluated in terms of their own characteristics of generations; it will be a guide for initiative work to develop a positive attitude that is then planned
