The aim of this study is to share knowledge and increase awareness of the literature on the effects of phytoestrogens on human health, which is recommended to be of use. Phytoosterogens are plant-derived polyphenolic nonsteroidal compounds. They can also be found structurally or functionally in mammals and behave like estrogens. It is suggested that estrogenic activity is present in 350 plant species as a result of the studies made. The intake of phytoestrogen into the human body can be accomplished by consuming the plant with the phytoestrogenic character or consuming the animal and / or animal product fed with this plant. Menopause, breast cancer, cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, obesity, diabetes, and estrogen intake in many diseases, especially those involving women, should be discussed. It is mentioned in the literature that phytoestrogens play a role in the control and prevention of hormone-dependent cancers. However, according to studies in the literature, phytoestrogens acting like estrogen suggests that estrogenic activity is exhibited when the estrogen level is low and antiestrogenic activity is high when the estrogen level is low. Phytoestrogen, which is claimed to be protective against breast cancer, is thought to be a trigger for breast cancer after menopause. These different properties of phytoestrogens; There is a potential for harm by practitioners who do not focus on the causal relationship. As a result, it should not be ruled out that phytoestrogens, which can be taken directly or indirectly for the purpose of protection or treatment in many diseases including cancer, may have harmful effects on human health
