PAIRED COMPARISON OF FACTORS AFFECTING UNIVERSITY PREFERENCEKeywords: ?kili kar??la?t?rma,?l?ekleme,üniversite tercihi Abstract: In this study, factors affecting the university preference of 12th grade students were examined according to the type of the high school, the income level of the family and whether or not they work. In this quantitative study, eight factors were determined by reviewing the literature and by taking opinions of the experts and students: “Educational quality of the university”, “Family request”, “Social and physical facilities in the city of the university”, “being in the same as, or closer to, the city where their family, or group of friends live”, “Place in the university ranking”, “Reputation of the university”, “Guidance by a counselor” and “Social and physical facilities of the university”. These factors were scaled by the method of judicial approach from the paired comparison methods and applied to 417 students in the 12th grade of various high schools in Turkey during 2017-2018 academic years. In the analysis of the data, Case III. and Case V models were used and calculations were done with Excel program. According to the results obtained, "Educational quality of the university" was found to be the most important factor in all variables. The least insignificant factors differed according to the variables and factors such as "Family request," "Guidance by a counselor" and "Being in the same as, or closer to, the city where their family, or group of friends live" were among the least insignificant factors
