The Emergences of Sociology in Turkey: Foundation Years

Sociological studies in Turkey began with two representatives of the different political views Ziya Gokalp and Prince Sabahattin. Sociology was realized at a time when social, political, economic problems and turmoil dominated with the formal disintegration of the Ottoman Empire. Sociology, founded under the leadership of Ziya G？kalp in Turkey, has been a significant key point of the construction of the Republic with new values. At this point, sociology has functioned as a tool for understanding and analyzing the society. While dealing with sociology in Turkey, the structure of society and events should be considered holistically. Not only the changes in the field of sociology, but also the transformations in the historical process of Turkish society are important. In this study, considering the emergence of sociology in Turkey and period up to 1940, an evaluation was made in the context of the effects on the sociology studies in Turkey
