Technology Use in SMEs: The Case of Giresun

The main purpose of this study is to analyze the perspectives towards technology use of small and medium-sized enterprises in the manufacturing sector in Giresun region. The study also aims to determine the level of technology utilization and the extent to which innovative activities are carried out by business enterprises. The participants of the study consist of twenty enterprises chosen with snowball sampling method. The data was obtained through an interview form. Representatives of companies participating in the survey are coded A1, A2, ... A20. The data obtained within the scope of the study were analyzed with the SPSS 22 program. The frequency and percentage values of the distributions according to the characteristics of the participants and the firms they represent are described by the arithmetic average and standard deviation values in addition to the frequency and percentage values of the enterprises that have been using the technology in the activities they have undertaken and the innovations. The research results show that SMEs have a positive approach to concepts of technology and innovation but their knowledge is inadequate
