The Relationship Between Domestic Tourism Expenditures and Economic Growth in Turkey

In this study, the impact of Turkish household domestic tourism expenditures on Turkey’s economic growth rates is analysed for the period of 2009 II and 2017 II. The main aim of this study is to analyse the validity of tourism-led growth hypothesis in the case of domestic tourism in Turkey. As a result of the analyses, it’s seen that household domestic tourism expenditures and GDP growth rates are in a long-term relationship. Moreover, it’s found that there exists a bilateral causality between two variables. Consequently, it is seen that domestic tourism expenditures increase economic growth rates and vice versa
