Can The Employee Care For A Pet In The Workplace?

In various countries, it is permitted to keep pets in some private workplaces and public institutions. Nonetheless, employees bringing pets to the workplace may cause a variety of disputes. In this work, first, the court decisions regarding disputes that have arisen due to bringing pets to the workplace and the doctrinal evaluations of these court decisions in comparative law are discussed. In this context, the suitability of caring for pets in the workplace has been addressed seperately from the perspective of the workplace and that of the animals. A comparative legal analysis of the rights granted to pet owners and the legal consequences of looking after animals in the workplace have also been examined. In addition, the topic has been examined from the perspective of Turkish labour law. Even though there are many regulations in Turkish law with regard to the protection of animals and their living conditions, there is a legal loophole regarding bringing them to the workplace.
