Abstract:

One of the fundamental concepts of the revelation-sourced information, itaat (obedience) means, according to its dictionary definition, to give in and be submissive and to do what someone instructs you to do. In the Qur’an, obedience is associated with belief and faith, and disobedience / rebellion with disbelief and denial. The Qur’an as the main source of the religion lists Allah, Prophets, and Ul al-Amr (rulers of Muslims, religious scholars, ulama, and experts in their fields) as “to be obeyed” and emphasizes that absolute obedience is due only to Allah. Obedience to rulers is limited to the extent that they are loyal to Allah and His Rasul, and their rulings are not against what Islam ordains (ma’ruf). That is to say, absolute obedience to them is out of the question. It is observed that this Qur’anic truth is disregarded today
