The Role Of Tourism On Turkey's Public Diplomacy Activities Towards Middle Asian Turkic Republics

States’ foreign policy instruments have been varied by technological and social developments while they were limited in the past centuries. States have to find different ways to achieve their foreign political goals because wars became more deadly and more expensive with developed technology. Public diplomacy has become prominent as one of the most important one of that ways. Some concepts that have not been seen as a part of foreign politics in the past have become foreign policy instruments today. In this context tourism has become a foreign policy instrument as one of the practicing fields of the public diplomacy while it had been perceived as only an economic area. Tourism has an important place in public diplomacy applications with the great influence on the international recognition and prestige of a country. From the point of view of Turkey, which has significant developments in public diplomacy nowadays, both it has great potential for tourism and important opportunities in the public diplomacy activities towards issued geography in terms of the common interests with the Central Asian Turkic Republics
