WOMEN AND GENDER IN URBAN DEVELOPMENT

Gender distribution in society is almost half of Turkey and the world. However, the same distribution balance is not observed in the distribution of income and services. Local development is a holistic approach to the economic, social and cultural aspects of development. In this study, the local development approach will be discussed with the perspective of urban development and the role and importance of women in development will be emphasized. Local values are very important in development. The local development project in Zonguldak alapl？ is a good example of local values. With the approach of governance, inter-institutional business division was carried out. The project is also important in terms of the contribution of universities to the city.In the project, women were educated and they were provided with professional skills. Determination of local values and employment policies will bring success in local development. The increase in this attitude will lead to the progress of our country on gender equality
