Different centuries same forms: an analysis on the Twilight film series on the functional approach of V. Propp and critique of the mass culture cinema

The cinema is antagonizing as an art that can open new worlds on the horizon of the people of the past day to day. But cinema is industry-dependent with one side. Films that take their narrative from legend in this industry-based cinema have gained a wide audience. The story is based on vampires and werewolves, Twilight (2008-2012) film series has also been one of the most watched films worldwide. Based on the idea that such films are not a new production but a product of a mass culture cinema based on certain functions, the validity of this hypothesis has been tested by analyzing the Twilight film series Vladimir Propp with the functional analysis methodology that the literature has gained. The result of the analysis is that the films that entered the vision in 2000 years have the same functions as the legendary tales of 1900 years. What is important at this point is that despite the passing of the century, the use of certain functions ensures the creation of the desired taste in the audience and thus the transmission of the messages that provide the continuation of the culture industry. Thus, the continuity of the audience with the functions they use when shooting movies in the magical world of the reproduction system is provided
