The Effect of Concept Cartoons Used in Science Education to Achievement: Meta-Analysis Study

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to try to determine the effect of concept cartoons used in science education on students' achievement. In the meta-analysis study conducted for this purpose, a total of 7 researches were included in the study. Researches that meets the inclusion criteria for the purpose of the study was analyzed using the CMA program, a meta-analysis software. The effect size coefficients of the researches included in the study were calculated according to the Hedges g. According to the analysis results, concept cartoons used in science education have a medium effect on student achievement. These result show that concept cartoons used in science education are an important variable on achievement. However, in order to carry out broader meta-analysis studies, there is a need for empirical studies that examine the impact of concept cartoon on achievement
