The aim of this work is to develop the strategy and strategic management thinking that has become more important in today's intense competitive environment and the direction of research topics in today's strategic management issues. In this frame of study, literature review has been done in order to examine and discuss with a wide and deep point of view and to reach new syntheses. Observation of sources, opinions, attitudes and descriptions of the article is provided. In this article, we have tried to put forward the literature and the research agenda of the past, the pioneers of daily thinking and philosophy, the historical development process, the everyday strategic management schools and research topics. In our work, progress and developments in strategic management thinking are examined. As a result of the literature review, it was first found that strategic management started as an independent science field in the 1980s, in the 1990s it was questioned by scholarship, in 2000s disciplinary debates, and in 2010, it was a search for restorative theory. Research topics related to strategic management in academic articles are identified and listed for the determination of the direction of current strategic management research. As a result of the literature review, the researches which are subject to strategic management researches are classified as basic, content, process, cognitive and contextual researches
