A NEW APPROACH IN INSURANCE: PARTICIPATION INSURANCE

In parallel with the socio-economic development of human beings, the tendency to feel secure has also been covered the economic values over time and caused the concept of “insurance” evolving with different forms of names and applications in the historical process. The relatively late increase in developments and welfare in the Islamic societies in comparison to the West has given insurance business a point of Islamic view. Most principle of the conventional insurance does not comply with the Islamic philosophy, thus it is created the need to reshape insurance business according to the Islamic precepts. Accordingly, a different application model focused on risk sharing has been developed, instead of the risk transfer in classical insurance. Although takaful with international terminology has a long history especially in the Gulf States and some Southeast Asian countries; it has been brought to infrastructure with a regulation published last year in our country. Participation insurance as a substitute for classical insurance products, especially for sectors with different sensitivities, must be clearly explained to the potential policyholders due to application techniques and differences and the question marks in the mind must be eliminated.
