A Soc？olog？cal Analys？s Of The Rel？g？ous V？ews Of The Publ？c Related To Da？ly L？fe Abstract

In this study the religiosity of the people, which is important in respect of understanding the religious structure of Turkish society, was studied in a sample from the town of Espiye in the region of Giresun. The research was limited to the centre and surrounding villages of Espiye. Direct observation and in-depth interview methods were used in the study. The collected data were verified by informed or uninformed individuals and it was attempted to gather correct and reliable information by asking different people about the comparisons and differences determined. Furthermore, the findings obtained were analysed independent of subjective values without differentiation of the participants on the basis of age, gender or social class. As a result of the study, there was determined to be a mutual interaction between religion and society and despite rapid developments in science and technology, the presence of public religiosity was maintained because of its function in society. It was concluded that there were continuing effects of the public religiosity coming from Central Asia in the region where the study was conducted
