Olaylar?,Haf?z Esad Abstract: In parallel with the period after the civil war started in Syria, the Kurds who sit in the agenda of the international public are among the most discriminated and oppressed communities in the history of Syria. The Kurds, who had relatively good conditions to keep their cultures and languages alive during the French mandate period, became the subject of one of the most important issue of the country after the independence of Syria in 1946. It is possible to say that the exclusionary and discriminatory state policies that have started to be applied to the Kurds together with the second half of the 20th century played an essential role in this situation. Politics that take citizenship rights from their hands, impede their cultural and linguistic activities and restrict their participation in the political and social spheres have made the Kurdish issue one of the most important problems of the country. This study examines how Syria's Kurdish issue has emerged and how it has progressed until the Syrian civil war. It is possible to say that such an examination has important clues to understand the position of the Kurds after the beginning of the civil war
