Opposition to the Authority: al-Shahrastan？’s Oppositon to Ibn S？na and the Transformation of al-Ghazzal？’s Opposition Attitude

In spite of opposition term is today generally used in a political sense the term also can be used in a wider meaning that all kind of objection and criticism against the person who has power in any field. Sometimes it can be done to stimulate, shake, take over the authority or eliminate it. Ibn S？na who is one of the greatest authorities of Islamic Philosophy also faced different oppositions. I have dealt with al-Shahrastan？ who wrote a separate critic book to Ibn S？na and characteristics of his critics. Based on this book called as Kitab al-Musara‘a al-Felasife, I tried to evaluate the nature, real reason and purpose of his opposition to Ibn S？na. In accordance with this purpose I have tried to examine this book by comparing with al-Ghazzal？’s Tahafut al-Falasife. By doing so, I aimed to get a general view of the course of this opposite line for Ibn S？na and his philosophy after al-Ghazzal？. I tried to detect whether this oppositional attitude of al-Ghazzal？ is sustained in a later oppositional book or is tried to be transformed and even so, what is the direction of this transformation
