A historical medical text in orthopedics Risale-i T?bbKeywords: T?p tarihi,ortopedi,Osmanl? d?nemi Abstract: Medical science is one of the most interested areas in history. The main reason for this is that it is directly related to human health. People have been involved in the treatment of diseases since ancient times. Physicians have produced works related to different fields of medicine. These works were sometimes related to drugs and sometimes in the surgical field. Written works illuminate the later years and are important sources for the works to be written later. When we look at the Ottoman period, we see that there are important developments in the field of medicine. Starting from the 14th century, many works have been written on different subjects of medicine. Especially in the 18th and 19th centuries, with the increase of translation works, important contributions were made to the medical science. One of the works that were thought to have been written in the last centuries of the Ottoman period is called “Risale-i T?bb”. The author and the writing date of this work are not known. The work has been written in the field of orthopedics and has 55 page. In the work, examples of many words taken from western medicine are given. It is noteworthy that the historical medicine texts generally focus on pharmacology and this work is related to fractures and dislocations. In this study, the work will be introduced. Information about language features will be given. Differences in terms of subject and language structure from other works of the period will be discussed. The work has an important vocabulary due to the intensive use of western words. The contribution of this vocabulary to the lexicography will be discussed. The importance of this work in the history of medicine will be emphasized
