THE POET IN THE PRESENCE OF LIFE: THE PERCEPTION OF REALITY IN CEMAL SüREYA POETRY

Reality is the main starting point for Cemal Süreya to produce a unique and alternative world of poetry. In this context, he considers the poem to be one of the means of transforming the world, not as an imitation art. The basic strategy for the production of the new and original reality intended in poetry is the alienation of language. Words is the building blocks of the new and original universe that he wants to establish in poetry. The main way to produce a new reality in poetry is to evaluate the established, frozen meanings of words in daily language with a new perspective outside the possibilities of use. This original and different sense of reality, which theoretically points out, corresponds in practice from his first poems. This style of reception sometimes appears as an ironic criticism of social norms on the bourgeois morality, women and sexuality concepts and sometimes with the helplessness and misery of the Anatolian people.
