Abdülmec?d b. Nasūh at-Tosyavī al-Amāsī (d. 996/1588) and His Work ?Arafatü’l- ‘?rif?nKeywords: Had?s,K?rk Had?s,Manz?m,Abdülmecid b. Nas?h,Amasya Abstract: “Forty hadith” is one of the field in which most written works in the Hadith literature. Many scholars who have been engaged in the Hadith sciences have at least one forty hadith compilations. One of the scholars who contributed to forty hadith literature is Abdulmecīd b. Nasūh b. Israel (d. 996/1588) who was one of the Ottoman writers in the sixteenth century. Abdulmecīd, who educated himself in different disciplines, wrote many books on fields such as tafs?r, hadith, fiqh, sufism, education, literature and morality. Forty hadith work of Abdulmecīd named ?Arafatü’l-?arif?n li’l-vu?ūf fi mev??fi ?ibadeti rabbi’l-?alem?n f? e?ad?s?i Seyyidi’l-mursel?n have been examined in this article. Although this work was a collection of forty hadiths, one hadith was omitted and thirty-nine hadiths were narrated. Each hadith was translated by the author with the sixteenth century Ottoman Turkish as poetry and prose. Some of the terms of theology, fiqh and hadith were discussed in order to provide a better understanding of the hadiths. It was seen that the hadiths of this work were narrated mostly from Sah?hayn except for a few. Poetic translation of the hadiths of Arafatü’l-?arif?n were also transcribed and given about their measures (vezin) in this study
