Upon the Classifications and the Sub-Categories in Genre of MemorateKeywords: memorat, numen memorat,ki?isel memorat,?rtülü memorat Abstract: The concept of memorate, officially included in the field of folklore research in 1934, occupied European folklorists at this time, but the increase in English publications about this concept, which reached the American folklorists in the 70s, managed to keep it on the agenda. The opinions on the concept are increasing as we put the studies on the Memorates, but when compared to other types of narratives, there still is not enough consensus. While the work has been progressed rapidly, the views, inferences and suggestions made are not seriously discussed by other folklorists, so the arguments that have been fully asserted are neither accepted nor rejected. Therefore, this scientific data, conclusions and recommendations on the other folklorists are not very clear explanatory texts. This deficiency leads to the fact that each researcher conducting research on memorates, by suggesting the same content, calls for the same content in different names, and the arguments of text analysis focused on local characteristics and the arguments of international text analysis are read in line with each other. As a natural consequence of this, some classification attempts have been made on memorates. This diversity has sometimes produced different suggestions, which are similar to each other, but are called different names. At the same time, the ambiguous points in the concept triggered the formation of ambiguous points in the definitions in the classifications
