A QUANTITATIVE EVALUATION ON THE ARCHITECTS IN TRABZON: (1963-2014)

This quantitative study, focusing on the members of the Chamber of Architects in Trabzon, their genders and their graduated schools, covered the years between 1963 when its first member was enrolled and 2014 that was the historical upper limit of the thesis. The study aimed at creating a database for the architectural ethos of Trabzon. In this study, quantitative analysis was used in quantitative review of data while qualitative analysis was used to correlate the quantitative data with the related literature. The data was analyzed and interpreted in terms of the political, social and financial setting of the period. As a result of the study, it was demonstrated that the years 1972, 1993 and 2010 heralded considerable elements regarding the architectural ethos of Trabzon in terms of the gender perception of the profession and the sense of belonging to the city. The study is significant since it analyzes a 50-year period of the profession in Trabzon in terms of architectural ethos and concerning both Turkey and Trabzon cases, and also, it presents a considerable amount of quantitative data regarding the city
