Abstract:

Phytochemicals are among the most important micronutrients that support human health, and known as having a mechanism of action on destructive diseases such as cancer and heart disease. In this study, the amounts of different antioxidant phytochemicals in fruit samples of Hac?halilo?lu, Kabaa?? and ?atalo?lu apricot varieties and wild apricot genotype grown in Malatya at an altitude of 1040 m and 1490 m above sea level were determined using UV-DAD detector and high pressure liquid chromography (HPLC). In this context, gallic acid, P-coumaric acid, ferulic acid, caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, catechin, epicatechin, epigallocatechin, routine, procyanidin B1, procyanidin B2, procyanidin B3 and 3-B-Q-D contents were investigated. Statistically significant differences were found between all cultivars and wild apricot samples (P <0.05). When the results were examined, it was observed that the values in the samples taken from the altitude 1490 m were higher. The highest gallic acid and chlorogenic acid contents were obtained in ?atalo?lu cultivar (305.25 and 20916.65 μg 100 g-1) which was grown at 1490 m, while the highest catechin and epicatechin contents were determined in Kabaa?? cultivar (6372.80 and 788.90 μg 100 g-1) grown at 1490 m
