UNDER THE DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES OF LIGHT AGAINST REFERENDUM 1987 REFERENDUM ON TURKEY ANALYSISKeywords: Do?rudan Demokrasi,Demokratik Referandum,Türkiye’de Referandum Abstract: At the peresent time, the increase in referendum practices and the work towards the principles of the democratization of the referendum is a problematic issue in terms of international organizations that take on democracy. This study is intended, in the framework of these principles put forth the principles set forth in the universal sense of the referendum is to practice direct democracy in Turkey’s 1987 referendum on the close-up. In line with this study, direct democracy and to understand the importance of the referendum, a referendum to determine the essential principles and Turkey’s position in the light of these principles is a flow said to embody the movement for the 1987 referendum. According to the results obtained from this study using literature scanning and descriptive method; it is to be noted that direct democracy, in particular, promotes political participation, and that the instrument providing the best participation is also a referendum. In addition, for democratic referendums, freedom of expression, which voters can express their thoughts, secret ballot principle that they can vote without being pressured, impartial media to reach adequate and accurate information, and political parties competing on equal terms are necessary. It is another result that the 1987 referendum, which was examined according to these principles, is inadequate in terms of international criteria
