THE EXPERIMENT OF ETYMOLOGY IN B？BUR-N？MA

Babur-nama (Vekay？), which is the first example of memoirs in Turkish literature, information about the places that are visited is given. The Babur, whose life spans through wars and conquests, has revealed all aspects of his work. The work is of great value in terms of the fact that the Babur himself wrote it. In his work, Babur reflected the life style of the period with a sincere style, and at the same time, he took an autobiographical approach. The work written in three parts of Fergana, Kabul and history begins in 5 Ramadan 899 (10 Hazirian 1494) and ends in 3 Muharram 936 (7 September 1529). The work, also known as Baburname or Vekay？, has taken its place among the masterpieces of ？a？atay literature. Translated into many world languages, such as German, English, Russian, XV. by the end of the century XVI. it contains important information about Central Asia, Afghanistan and India at the beginning of the century. This information partly contains descriptions of etymology. Etymology studies is made in order to find the true meaning of a word and there are some interesting examples of this study in Babur-nama. In these etymologic explanations, some of them could be classified as folk etymology and some of them are etymologic data.
