ONE OF THE WOMEN ROL-MODELS OF A NEW REPUBLIC: PIANIST AND PEDAGOG FERHUNDE ERK？N

This research is focusing on some gender projections of one of important female figures of the newly established Republic, pianist and pedagogue Ferhunde (Remzi). When the political conditions, economic dynamics and the revolutionary changes of a socio-cultural life of the time were considerated right, Ferhunde Erkin, was one of the women that were expected to give a different social perception and shape according to the modern norms, she was a one of that kind of versatile women - pioneers in many areas of new (more Western) style of life. The aim of this study is to draw an attention to a portrait of a woman, mother of two and wife of one of the leading Turkish composers as well as a successful concert pianist and important national ecole setter, pedagogue of many internationally well-known Turkish pianists and music educators. In the context of descriptive study, directly and indirectly related with the issue literature, interviews with her and with her students and relatives were studied and evaluated through the research process
