Video-Assisted Polyclinic ServiceKeywords: Video destekli poliklinik hizmeti,ayd?nlat?lm?? hasta onam?,anestezi tipi,anestezi korkusu Abstract: Introduction: This study was held to determine the patients’ reading habits of informed consent who will be applied anesthesia due to surgery or non-surgery conditions, to assess the patients how much they know about anesthesia by representing videos about anesthesia applications. Also patients’ satisfaction and increasing health care quality were aimed. Methods: Three hundred ninety eight patients of ASA physical status I-II-III were randomly allocated to either Group I (Standard policlinic service group) or Group II (Video-assisted policlinic service. Group II patients were taken to an interview with the anesthesiologist. Patients’ data, physical status and medical history were recorded. Then patients were represented 7 video cassettes related with the types of anesthesia which can be possibly applied for the surgery they will undergo. Patients were informed about the types of anesthesia and endotracheal entubation. After preanesthetic interview, patients read the Standard informed consent and were given a multi choice test. Results: In Group II patients were more informed (p<0,05) and level of anxiety about anesthesia was less and due to information about anesthesia changes occurred in the choice of type of anesthesia (p<0,05). Also the habit of patients’ reading about informed consent increased (p<0,05). Conclusion: Video-assisted policlinic service increased patients’ level of information about anesthesia, increased level of anxiety and increased the awareness about the type of anesthesia and informed consent
