Determination of the Impact of Soil Analysis Obligation on Fertilizer Usage Habits in Fertilizer Support Payments: Polatl？ Example

This research was carried out by taking as an example the Polatl？ village farmers of Ankara province in order to determine whether the necessity of carrying out soil analysis in fertilizer support payments has created any awareness on the farmers. The results of the analysis of 30.000 soil samples of 2010, 2011 and 2012 of Polatl？ district and 5 years fertilizer consumption statistics were evaluated in the framework of the research. It has been determined that the Polatl？ district soil has a slightly alkaline character in general and middle texture classes. It was determined that 99% of the soils did not have a salinity problem, less than 0.9%, moderate to 15.7%, high 36.4% and 47.0% to contain very high lime. It has been determined that the most part of the soil is poor in terms of organic matter, and that the 92.8% of the research area contain little and very little organic matter. However, as a result of the research, it has been seen that the farmers of the region have taken the soil analysis and the analysts have applied the advice according to the results of the analysis and changed the fertilizer usage habits as a result. According to results, fertilizer preference of the farmers is getting to change towards to ammonium sulphate, and use of calcium ammonium nitrate fertilizer, which is not suitable for the region soils, is getting decrease at the same time
