Waqfs from the Perspective of History of Economics

This article examines waqfs and their evolution from their emergence in the Islamic world until the present day. In addition, it briefly looks at similar institutions in the contemporary West. It has been reached a conclusion that waqf institutions clearly need for a thorough reform process in Turkey as well as in the rest of the Islamic world
