The Origin Of The Hungarians

The origin of the Hungarians has been historically an interesting subject-matter; and the historians, archeologists, anthropologists, linguists in addition to other interested scientists and intellectuals have put forward various views, arguments and comments in this regard. While some of such views, arguments and comments have managed to make a conclusion with due regard to the scientific data, there are people who have put forward a series of imaginative formations with no regard to the relevant scientific data. This article translated into Turkish language from the original Hungarian material discusses the theses, views, and assumptions put forward concerning the origin of the Hungarians based on the researches conducted under the light of the existing scientific data starting from the Middle Age chronicles. The article describes in details the researches, views, theses and comments spread over the centuries starting from the legends about the origin of the Hungarians; and attempts to make an in-depth analysis of the subject-matter on the score of its historical, geographical, archeological, anthropological, linguistic and ethnographical aspects, amongst other things. The article concentrates on the issue of the origin of the Hungarians, which remains to occupy the people’s mind for centuries, from the angle of the Turkish thesis and the Finno-Ugric thesis, while, at the same time, reviewing other theses put forward about the issue, and, thus, addresses the subject-matter in a holistic way
