An Evaluation on Morocco Policy of Ottoman Empire

Abstract:

It is seen that the relations between Ottoman Empire and Morocco starting with Algeria joining into the State’s territories in XVI century generated a political pressure on Morocco. Moreover, since Caliphate institution created an additional rivalry issue, a reversed case in terms of politics appeared in relations between Ottoman Empire and Morocco. In the beginning of XIX century, the fact that European colonial powers started to share Middle East and Africa constituted the start of alliance searches between the two states. For this purpose, during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II, the political relations, desired to be established between Ottoman Empire and Morocco, were hindered by France. That Germany entered into the colonial race together with the policy she followed for Morocco led to the fact that she and Ottoman State acted jointly. After Abdulhamid II was dethroned, Morocco policy of Union and Progress government remained in the form of military activity. Morocco policy of Ottoman Empire ended completely after French patronage had been established in Morocco
