THE WAQF OF HALEF SULTAN’S DERVISH LODGE IN TOKAT (H.961/M.1321)

Halef b. Su？leyman had built a zawiya in the central district of Tokat, in 691(Hijri). He made over the malikane income villages, gardens and mill to this zawiya. Some documents were found related to zawiya in the archive of the General Directorate ofFoundations, the Presidential Ottoman Archive and the S？eriyye Registry. However, detailed information about Halef b. Su？leyman's life could not be reached. It can be said that he was one of the local lords of Tokat based on the fact that he had introduced himself as the sultan of great orders and elders and commandments. There is no independent study on Halef Sultan Zawiya. However, art historians and some historians have made some evaluations based on the inscription.
