Art and Design Works Through an Environmental ApproachKeywords: Sürdürülebilir Tasar?m,Eko-Tasar?m,Ye?il Tasar?m,Land Art Abstract: The advancements that occurred in industry in the 19th century started the rural-urban immigration and caused the population to increase. Natural resources were unconsciously destroyed to meet the demands of rapidly increasing population. The increase in the usage of fossil fuel, destroying the forestlands, and greenhouse gas emission caused global warming and life threatening environmental disasters. In the first part of the study the results of the literature review that was conducted on the negative effects of the global issues that occurred due to human actions on the ecosystem and all living things was endeavored to be presented. In the second part, a selection of Land Art; Contemporary Art works which create an environmental awareness as a result of concerns about the visible disruption of the nature and the ecosystem are given. ‘Sustainability’ which means the ability to be permanent and which constitutes the heart of the study is examined within the concept of visual design. For a sustainable design approach, the natural resources to be used consciously, consumption of the fossil-based products to be minimized, and fossil fuel consumption to be stopped are recommended. In addition to these, recycling and usage of renewable energy resources to be made widespread is required. For the earth to get back its ecological balance, the carbon emission must be minimized, and the society must be informed in order to adjust the consumption habits, and the consciousness level of the society must be increased regarding the environmental issues. In this context, it is recommended that the power of graphic design in persuading and leading the society about a subject matter to be directed in sustainable visual design works that can create awareness about the environment
