Validity and Realiability of Turkish Versions of the Recreational Exercise Motivation Measure (REMM) for Children Athletes: Short Form

The aim of this study was to test the validity and reliability of the short form to revise for children and adolescent aged among 7-17 of the Recreational Exercise Motivation Measure (REMM). The research group was consisting of 188 female (Mage= 12,00 sd = 2,96 years) 192 male (Mage= 12,93 sd= 2,53) totally of 380 participants from different branch (gymnastics, swimming, sailing, ice skating, fencing, football, volleyball, basketball) randomized by cluster sampling method for construct validity, and 55 (female 29 Mage = 12,7, sd = 2,90; male 26 Mage = 13,0, sd = 2,42 years) for test-retest reliability. In the process of forming the short form of REMM, which was developed by Rogers and Morris (2003) and conducted the validity and reliability study of Gürbüz, A？？？ and ？elebi (2006) in Turkish culture, the items that represent the sub-dimensions of the scale were determined first. Then, a single factor model was formed with 10 selected items. EFA and CFA were used to test the construct validity of the model. As a result of the analysis, the single factor structure verified of the REMM for participants between 7-17 aged and has proven validity as ten items. As a result of the reliability analysis, the internal consistency coefficient of the REMM was (α) 0,83, the measurement reliability was (t=-1,47; p=0,147, p>,05) and the test-retest reliability was (0,74 and 0,95, p<,01).
