An Evaluation of Success Factors in Dental Implant Treatment

Aim: The aim of this study is to prevent failures that may occur by examining implant treatment success rate in relation to age, gender, systemic condition, type of prosthetic treatment and applied surgical technique. Materials and Methods: A total of 877 patients who had undergone dental implant treatment between 2011-2017 were evaluated retrospectively by reviewing 3033 dental implant archive records and radiographs of patients at Abant Izzet Baysal University Faculty of Dentistry. Results: There was statistically significant difference in implant loss rates according to age distribution (p = 0,000) but not between genders (p = 0,157). When patients are evaluated for systemic condition, the most common diseases are; hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, thyroid diseases and osteoporosis. 2905 were bone level, 128 were tissue level, 952 were in maxilla posterior, 398 maxilla anterior, 1042 mandibular posterior and 641 mandibular anterior of the 3033 implants placed in the jawbone. Dental implants were restored with 513 single crown, 700 crown-bridge restoration and 260 removable prosthesis planning. Overdenture prostheses were as 50 bar connected and 210 locator attachments. According to the analysis result, there was a statistically significant difference between prosthesis type and implant loss rates (p = 0.007) Spss (18 vers.) Program and Pearson Chi-Square test were used to analyze statistical data in the study. Conclusion: Careful assessment of the systemic and local factors of the patient and correct prosthetic planning are crucial in the success of the implant treatment
