The Complications of Using Historical and Cultural Sites as Exhibition Hall: Trnc Example

This article aims to identify problems and offer solutions about the use of historical and cultural sites as exhibition areas for art pieces. This article also aims to draw the attention of institutions administering the sites in question, namely, Nicosia, Famagusta and Kyrenia -the three major touristic centers in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. In this article, qualitative research approach is utilized, which includes observations on the above-mentioned sites, data collection on sites’ architectural and physical conditions as well as their event calendar. In addition, these sites which have lost their original purpose of construction have been observed during events in order to find out to what extent they meet the needs. Also, the level of usability has been identified with their current utilities based on the criteria of the modern exhibition techniques of art pieces
