Periods in Gulten Akin’s Poetry

Gülten Ak？n has a unique place in our post-1950s literature. Her poetry is satisfactory in quantity and quality. Individuality is observed in her early works, whereas sociality is dominant in her second period. Ak？n showed a tendency to a plainer expression in her later works because she was affected by folk poetry. She stood out with her epics in the Turkish poetry of the Republican era. In the 1970s, she focused mainly on the saga. Her poems included the projections of her private world in the post-1990 period. She also used imagery and wise words in this period. Gülten Ak？n did not dwell on the same spot in her poet life of 50 years but has changed and developed her poetry over the years. While narrating the world of women, she didn’t fall into sexism but tried to understand and explain what it meant to be human
