An Elaboration of Psychosis with the Rorschach Test as a Projective Approach

In the application of clinical psychology various methods are used in order to detect psychopathology. The Rorschach Test, offering qualitative data and known as a projective test, is one of these methods. First of all after introducing projective tests along with the history, application and interpretation of the Rorschach Test, the way psychosis is reflected upon the protocols of this test will be addressed. Common features of psychotic structures as well as psychotic anxiety will be investigated. At the centre of these common features the 5 categories which are integrated by Chabert and are based on Palem’s publications with schizophrenia are located. In the areas of reality perception, cognitive processes, identity and body image, protection shield and pregenital relations common experiences of schizophrenic individuals are found. Besides, it is known that test protocols can be divided into two types. While protocols of schizophrenia resemble psychic drought, even though the protocols of paranoid schizophrenia display a rich internal life, the underlying fragile psychotic structure will be ultimately mentioned
