An Overview of Research on Teaching Turkish to People of Turkic Origin

Teaching Turkish to people of Turkic has distinctive cultural and linguistic traits compared to teaching Turkish to other nationalities. Examining the Turkish learning processes of these people who share the same native language roots is essential to increase the quality of education. This study aims to identify the general tendency in the articles written on teaching Turkish to Turkic descendants. This study focuses on the concept of "teaching Turkish to people of Turkic origin" and reviews the research on Turkic descendants such as Azeri, Turkmen, Uzbek and Kyrgyz. The scientific indexes like Google Scholar and Ulakbim are scanned to find the related articles. After the selection process, the articles are examined by using the methodology of content analysis. These articles are evaluated in terms of their purpose, subject matter, methodology, sample, data collection tools and results. The validity and reliability of the results are cross-checked by the experts.
