Borderline Personality Disorder: A Case Example

Borderline personality disorder can be defined as a syndrome with an imbalance in feelings which generally appears with problems in interpersonal relations and impulsivity patterns. This study includes a case formulation and supervision process in psychotherapy at the end of the fifteen sessions of a client named D. who indicates borderline personality disorder pattern. D.. is a 37 years old, high school graduated single mother who is of medium height and weight, well cared and works as a cleaner. In the first part of the study, demographic information, previous treatments, family and social life, education and work life, strengths and weakness of the client, as she declared, has been presented in a detailed way. Then, the relationship between therapist and client, psychotherapy process and the techniques which are benefited as a part of the relevant psychological tests and evaluation of findings within the context of cognitive behavior therapy have been undertaken as a treatment strategy. Finally, in the personality assessment section, it was discussed how this assessment has an effect on the client, examining stages of the therapy and developments, the client's achievements, and the points that need to be addressed in the long run in the context of therapy. Thus, it is aimed to provide a different perspective on the disorder and the pspsychotherapy process from the characteristics of a borderline personality disorder
