A Research On Internet Usage And Adolescent People's Religion Development

Internet, which is at the forefront of communication tools where children and adolescents are active users, has become an important factor moving religions into virtual platform. The Internet is being used effectively in conveying/transmitting the principles and rituals of religion to individuals.In this study, the contribution of internet use to the religious development of adolescents was investigated viewed during the adolescence period when religious interest and doubt were experienced intensely. In our study we used one of the qualitative research techniques, the interview method, and viewed whether the adolescents use the internet for religious purposes or not. Acquired findings are presented by content and descriptive analysis method. Randomly selected 50 high school students 50 high school students selected by the random method participated from in different high school types in Kütahya. The extent to which the Internet has contributed to the religious development of students has been researched. Our study finds out that adolescence people use the Internet for entertainment, socialization and communication rather than for religious purposes
