Patient and patient relatives from home health care services expectation and satisfaction levels

Abstract:

Introduction and Aim: This study was carried out in order to measure the expectation and satisfaction of the patients and relations of these patients receiving home health care services. Materials and Methods: This descriptive study included 303 patients, where the sampling size is calculated from the 1204 patients registered between the dates of September 2017 and December 2017 at the Sivas province Home Health Care Coordination Center, which is administered by Sivas Public Hospitals Association, the scope of Sivas province center and affiliated to the Sivas Public Hospitals Union. Analyses of the obtained data were made in SPSS for Windows 23.0 program and the results were expressed as mean and percentage. Results: When the expectations and satisfaction of the patients were compared the difference with respect to sex was found out to be significant (p <0.05). When the same comparison was made with respect to marital status, the expectation was seen to be significant (p <0.05). Differences between expectation and satisfaction total scores were found to be significant when the comparison was based on education levels (p <0.05). Differences in satisfaction scores in regard to health insurance are important. Differences between the expectation and satisfaction scores of home health care service reception time were found to be significant (p <0.05). Conclusion: The differences between the patient relatives' total expectation scores with respect to sex were found to be significant (p <0.05). Expectation and satisfaction scores in regard to marital status were found to be significant (p <0.05). The difference between the total scores of expectation and the time spent with the patients is significant (p <0.05). The difference between total satisfaction scores and education levels is significant (p <0.05). The difference between the satisfaction scores with respect to occupational statuses was seen to be significant (p <0.05). When compared based on where the home health services were first heard of, the difference between total expectation scores is significant (p <0.05). Differences in the comparison of expectation and satisfaction total scores regarding the time of visitation of patient's home after first admission are significant (p <0.05). Differences in satisfaction and expectation total scores compared with repaect to the time when the service was initiated after the first application were found to be significant (p <0.05)
