Investigation on Geological Features and Environmental Impact of Marble Area Around Yar??l? Lake (Burdur)Keywords: Yar??l? G?lü,Ticari Mermer,Kire?ta?? Abstract: In the marble industry, there are limestones, travertines and dolomites that can be named “commercial marbles” in addition to the geological marbles. The Dutdere limestones outrcopping around the Yar??l? Lake, have a special color and texture which are very desirable in marble industry. This study has focused on the structural, textural and mineralogical characterizations of dolomite and limestone deposits around Yar??l? Lake. It also emphasises the importance of feasibility studies and the environmental impacts of the marble quarries. The Dutdere limestones that belong to the allochthonous Lycian Nappes around Yar??l? Lake. There is large amount of marble production from the Dutdere limestones that have appropriate structural, textural and mineralogical properties. The limestones, known as ‘’Sandia’’ marble, are the only current source for lightning texture in the marble industry. In this area, there is also a type of commercial marble known as ‘’Bayulan’’ Dutdere limestones with smoot cream beige color that have industrial marble potential. There are many marble quarries that end in failure with the Dutdere limestones. This situation indicates the importance of prior feasibility work. On the other hand, the marble productions around the Yar??l? Lake has partially environmental impact for the area
