The effect of zinc application on agronomic parameters of some rice genotypes

This work was to investigate the effect of Zn application on biologic yield, panicle production, the number of panicle, panicle length, the grain number in the panicle, thousand-kernel weight and harvest index. A field experiment was conducted in a random block design with 3 replications in Osmanc？k, ？orum by using 6 rice genotypes (Osmanc？k 97, KA-080, KA-081, Lotto, Ak？eltik, GA -721). Zinc was applied to the soil at the rates of 0, 5 and 10 kg Zn ha-1 as ZnSO4.7H2O form. At the end of the experiment, the rice genotypes of KA-081, Lotto, Ak？eltik, GA-7721 were positively affected by zinc application and their biological yield increased. On the other hand, Osmanc？k-97 and KA-080 genotypes were negatively affected by the zinc application. Panicle production of genotype KA-080 increased, whereas in the genotype Osmanc？k-97panicle production decreased. According to the zinc application, the number of panicle, panicle length, and grain number in the panicle increased in all the genotypes. Thousand kernel weights decreased in Osmanc？k-97, KA-081 and Ak？eltik genotypes, whereas it increased in KA-080, Lotto, GA-7721 genotypes. Harvest index decreased in all the genotypes except KA -080 genotype
