Key of Sustainable Competition: Industrial Design

The objective of this study is to search industrial design capacity in machine production and employment status within the Organized Industrial Zones of Ankara province in order to produce actions and policies for increasing high-tech production, reducing foreign trade deficit and enhancing competitiveness of the national enterprises which have been included into the priority areas listed within the development plans of Ankara Development Agency affiliated to the Ministry of Development. Through conducted research, sectoral current status within the industrial design area, qualified labourforce requirement as well as marketing and export conditions are analysed. For this research, in line with the obtained data from industrial zones, through determining 600 companies at design and production area, 303 companies were visited according to the distribution of these companies based on industrial zones and among those, the survey was applied to 200 companies which have been approved to participate in. With the research results, it is targeted to raise awareness on prominence and necessity of industrial design for the national industry, especially at educational organizations and authorized organizations, institutions in addition to industrialists. Furthermore, the speciality of qualified personnel, required by the sector is determined and the employability status of young graduates is revealed
